What is Direct Cremation?
Direct cremation provides a cheap solution for those who do not require a traditional funeral.
With direct cremation, there is no opportunity for you or any friends or family to attend the cremation.
What’s included?
For £1,345, our team will handle every aspect of the cremation process. We will:
- Collect your loved one from a hospital or coroner's mortuary during normal working hours.
- Gently prepare them for cremation in a simple white shroud and plain wooden coffin.
- Transport them to a crematorium in our private vehicle.
- Make the crematorium payment.
Please note, you will not be able to choose the crematorium or the cremation day or time. It is also important you understand that you cannot attend the cremation. Once we have taken the deceased to the crematorium chapel, the crematorium staff will continue with the arrangements.
Following the cremation, the ashes will be either scattered in the grounds of the crematorium, or, if you wish, we can arrange for you to collect them from us.
Other Charges:
We understand that end-of-life circumstances can vary. To ensure a dignified and respectful process, we offer additional services:
- Our trained professionals can collect your loved one from a house, nursing home, or hospice using a private ambulance - day or night, 7 days a week. This service incurs a fee of £250.
- We can accommodate individuals requiring a larger coffin and ensure safe and dignified handling throughout the process. This service requires additional staff and time, incurring a fee of £300.
- Our qualified mortuary technicians can remove pacemakers and other implants. This service costs £100.
- Elevate the remembrance of your loved one with a personalized oak casket. For £95, we can transfer the ashes from the standard container to an engraved oak casket.
- For collections exceeding 20 miles as a round trip, an additional fee of £1.75 per mile will apply.
How to pay:
- We offer flexible payment options to accommodate your needs. You can pay by credit or debit card, bank transfer, or cash. We also understand that end-of-life expenses can be a burden, so we accommodate payments from multiple family members to share the cost.
- To ensure efficient arrangements, we kindly request full payment within two working days.
- Once we receive your payment and all necessary paperwork is complete, we will book a date and time at our chosen crematorium.
Further Information:
- If you believe direct cremation is the right choice for you, please inform us from the outset to avoid unnecessary costs.
- If you do not wish to visit a funeral home or meet the Funeral Director, it is possible for us to arrange everything over the phone and via email. Any required paperwork can be signed and returned by post.
- We always treat your loved one with care and respect and you with utmost courtesy, but please note direct cremation does not enable you to view your loved one or attend the cremation.
